Career Notes: Came up through the ranks in Germany, playing for Alba Berlin’s feeder team, Tus Lichterfelde, in Germany’s second division. Signed to a contract by European power Olympiakos of Greece prior to 2001-02 season, but was used as a role player there. In December 2002 he moved to Snaidero Udine of Italy’s top league and was afforded more playing time. Now a member of Germany’s National Team after previously competing for the Under-20 National Team and the Junior National Team. Played in the Global Games for Juniors in Dallas in 2001.
(2002-03): After switching to Snaidero Udine in December 2002, quickly became a key offensive player for the team. In 21 games, he played 26.7 minutes per game and produced 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.14 steals. Played six games for Olympiakos before switching to Snaidero Udine, averaging 5.5 points.
2003 World Championship: Was a key reserve on the German team that won the bronze medal in Indianapolis. He averaged 15.6 minutes and 7.4 points. He shot the ball extremely well in his role, making 17-of-26 from two-point range (65.4%), 6-of-13 from three-point range (46.2%) and 15-of-16 free throws (93.8%). In a key second round victory over New Zealand, contributed 13 points, sinking five of six shots, including two three-pointers. Came up big again in that round in a win over Russia, scoring 17 points to tie Dirk Nowitzki for team-high scoring honors.
Strengths: An electrifying, explosive athlete who can drive past defenders and sky to the rim. Scouts say he has a scorer’s mentality and looks to score when he gets the ball. Has a high release on his shot, making it hard to block.
Testimonial
After undergoing major hip surgery this past summer I decided to come to Canada and train with Kyle Julius. KJ has allowed me to stay in his home and has taken my body and my game to a new level during the past month. We are up early working on conditioning, skills, balance and then we put it all into game-drills and exercises. I can’t believe how fast my handle, and my shot has improved so quickly. KJ monitors all drills and all reps making sure there is a daily, weekly and monthly progression. I will be back to work with him this summer. I know I am about to have my best year as a pro because of the base Kyle has helped me create. Nutrition, goal setting, speed, strength and even visualization; KJ covers it all!!
